AleXa talks herself out of love in new video for ‘Distraction’

It’s the latest in a string of English singles by the K-pop singer

Korean-American K-pop singer AleXa has released a new single titled ‘Distraction’.

In the new visual for ‘Distraction’, AleXa battles her feelings for a past flame, convincing herself to get over him. “He’s not the best, he’s a regret / Stop cryin’ over someone / Who’s ignoring your texts / Cause it’s not love it’s just a new distraction,” she sings on the chorus.

“I wanted to create a song that speaks to anyone who has ever felt undervalued in a relationship,” said Alexa of the new song in a press release. “‘Distraction’ is about recognizing your worth and not allowing yourself to be anyone’s second choice. It’s a reminder to everyone that love is a two-way street, and you deserve someone who respects and cherishes you.”

The new single is the latest in a string of English releases by the singer this year, following ‘i’m okay’ and ‘sick’. “We wanted to go with a sound, image and overall aesthetics that are kind of a 180 to what we’ve done so far with AleXa the K-pop artist,” she said of the latter in an interview with NME.

In other K-pop news, ex-LOONA’s Chuu has officially won her lawsuit against former agency Blockberry Creative, concluding the singer’s two-and-a-half year legal dispute with the company. The news comes just days after she released her mini-album ‘Strawberry Rush’ earlier this week.

Elsewhere, BLACKPINK’s Lisa made her first solo comeback in three years with the new single ‘Rockstar’ earlier today. It is her first music since leaving longtime agency YG Entertainment late last year.
