Tenacious D have teamed up with nonprofit Rock The Vote for a series of US shows ahead of the presidential election later on this year.
The rock duo, fronted by actor Jack Black, are set to play five shows in October, including dates in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania – all crucial ‘swing’ states that could help determine the results of the election.
It’s not the first time Tenacious D have worked with Rock The Vote. In 2020, they released a cover of the song ‘Time Warp’, from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with proceeds going to the organisation. The music video featured the likes of Karen O, Phoebe Bridgers, Peaches and King Princess.
Among the other artists to have worked with Rock The Vote in the past include Miley Cyrus, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Earlier this year, Tenacious D gained attention for a series of covers. They recorded Britney Spears’ hit …Baby One More Time for the Kung Fu Panda 4 soundtrack, in which Black reprises his role as main character Po.
In May, they covered ‘Turn’ by Travis in Glasgow as part of their Spicy Meatball tour in the UK, and followed it up with their take on the Oasis classic ‘Champagne Supernova’ in Brighton a few days later.
Before Tenacious D’s US shows, they’re playing a series of dates in Australia and New Zealand in July. General tickets to their US shows will go on sale from 10 am local time tomorrow (June 28), with artist presale available now. You can find tickets for all of Tenacious D’s upcoming shows on their website.
