In June 2024, K-drama fans can look forward to the return of 2018 crime drama The Player starring Song Seung-heon, Lee Si-eon and Tae Won-seok. Titled The Player 2: Master of Swindlers, this new season will feature new additions to the team of talented scam artists played by Oh Yeon-seo and former fromis_9 member Jang Gyu-ri.

Meanwhile, are romantic-comedies Miss Day and Night and My Sweet Mobster. The latter tells the story of an unlikely romance between a former gang leader and a content creator for a children’s YouTube channel, while the former follows a young woman who transforms into an old lady by night.

In addition, Super Junior‘s Choi Si-won leads DNA Lover, a romantic-comedy in which a gene-obsessed researcher tries to find herself the most genetically compatible lover. Plus, Netflix will unveil its latest Korean original, Hierarchy, set in a prestigious and exclusive high school with a dark secret.

Meanwhile, KBS2 will also premiere the 100-episode K-drama Scandal, in which a powerful woman who has sacrificed everything to make the world hers becomes entangled with a rising young actor.

The Player 2: Master of Swindlers

Following its first season in 2018, The Player 2: Master of Swindlers follows veteran conman Kang Ha-ri (Song Seung-heon) and his new team of scammers and hackers who have banded together to steal laundered money from the wealthy.

Returning in this season are hacker Lim Byung-min (Lee Si-eon) and Do Jin-woong (Tae Won-seok), a talented fighter. Ha-ri also welcomes two new members to the team, Jung Soo-min (Oh Yeon-seo) and Jane (Jang Gyu-ri).

Hierarchy

Established by conglomerate Jooshin Group, Jooshin High School has established itself as the most prestigious and exclusive high school in South Korea, with its student body enrolled through a selection process that begins as early as birth. As such, Jooshin’s students are the children of some of South Korea’s richest and most powerful people.

Meanwhile, Kang-ha makes history as the first and only transfer student in Jooshin High School. He is also the only student in the school to receive a full scholarship, however it’s clear that he has a secret to hide. The cracks of Jooshin High School begin to show upon his transfer.

My Sweet Mobster

In My Sweet Mobster, Uhm Tae-goo stars as Seo Ji-hwan, a former gang leader who turns his life around and becomes the CEO of a social enterprise. He travels around the country to dismantle gangs and recruit ex-convicts, offering them a new lease of life.

Meanwhile, Han Sun-hwa plays Go Eun-ha, a lively YouTuber and creator of “Minnie Unnie”, a channel that features herself and groups of children through which she hopes to spread love and happiness.

Despite her Sun-hwa’s low subscriber count and floundering finances, she remains optimistic and goes out of her way to play with and bring joy to children. When Ji-hwan and Eun-ha cross paths, the pair start a surprising romance.

Starring Apink’s Jung Eun-ji, MIss Day and Night is a comedy and romance drama telling the story of a young woman who makes a strange and sudden transformation. Lee Mi-jin (played by Jung) is a hardworking woman studying for the civil service exam while doing odd jobs to make ends meet.

One night, she wakes up and finds that she has turned into Lim Soon (Lee Jung-eun), an old woman, and this begins to occur every night. During this time, she meets prosecutor Gye Ji-woong through an internship, and he winds up caught up in her strange predicament.

Scandal

She later sets up and becomes the CEO of Jeong In Entertainment, and begins a brand-new life of wealth and power. However, she soon becomes entangled with rising actor Seo Jin-ho (Choi Woong), who uncannily resembles her first love.

DNA Lover

In DNA Lover, genetic researcher Han So-jin (Jung In-sun) decides to dump her playboy boyfriend and sets out on a mission to find herself the most genetically compatible lover in order to have a happy relationship. Her research lands her with two options: the charming obstetrician-gynaecologist Shim Yeon-woo (Choi Si-won) and her close friend and firefighter Seo Kang-hoon (Lee Tae-hwan).

However, Yeon-woo has a history of past relationships that he ended after his exes became too “obsessed” with him. Among them is Jang Mi-eun (Jung Eugene), a love columnist. As So-jin explores her options, Yeon-woo’s past and her longstanding friendship with Kang-hoon prove to make things much trickier than expected.
